Huxley-Parlour is pleased to present Anthesis, the first solo UK exhibition of photographer Nadine Ijewere. Ijewere is known for her innovative and disruptive approach to fashion photography. The exhibition comprises a suite of thirteen large-scale colour photographs, drawn from four years of work between 2019 and 2023. Sensual and intimate, the works are representative of Ijewere’s command of colour as well as an experimental treatment of composition.

Dalla is a new neighbourhood Italian restaurant in Hackney. It features home-style cooking from Mitchell Damota, with interiors by Spazio Leone and Sicilian artist and object maker Oscar Piccolo. Dalla’s aim is to emulate the spirit and warmth of local restaurants in Italy - generous, welcoming places, where people feel at ease, and there is something for everyone.


David Hockney: Drawing from Life, 2nd November 2023 - 21st January 2024, National Portrait Gallery, St Martin's Place, London, WC2H 0HE

The exhibition explores the artist’s work over the last six decades through his intimate portraits of five sitters: his mother, Celia Birtwell, Gregory Evans, Maurice Payne and the artist himself. His familiarity with the sitters enables him to work with a range of mediums and styles, from pencil, pen and ink and crayon, to photographic collage and the iPad. The 2023 exhibition will also debut a selection of over thirty new portraits. Painted from life they depict friends and visitors to the artist’s Normandy studio between 2021 and 2022.

Join esteemed scholar, author and researcher Daniel E Sutherland as he explores the contrasting lives of long-time acquaintances Frederic, Lord Leighton and James McNeill Whistler who were as similar as they were different. Leighton, knighted, feted, and honoured as the long-serving president of the Royal Academy, the ultimate “gentleman artist” and Insider. Whistler, rebellious, non-conforming, iconoclastic, and the anthesis of the Royal Academy, a publicity hound and self-proclaimed Outsider. A comparison of their contrasting lives undermines several myths as well as illustrating the fascinating and multi-dimensional artistic world of nineteenth-century London.


Taylor Wessing: Photo Portrait Prize 2023, 9th November 2023 - 25th February 2024, National Portrait Gallery, St Martin's Place, London, WC2H 0HE

The Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize returns to the Gallery in St Martin’s Place after three years. Showcasing talented young photographers, gifted amateurs and established professionals, the competition celebrates a diverse range of images and tells the often fascinating stories behind the creation of the works. The selected images, many of which are on display for the first time, explore both traditional and contemporary approaches to the photographic portrait whilst capturing a range of characters, moods and locations. In addition to first, second and third prizes, the National Portrait Gallery has also launched a new £8,000 commission.

Bard is unveiling its first exhibition to celebrate its one-year anniversary. The Grit and The Glamour brings together new work from 20 contemporary makers and artists from all over Scotland for a selling exhibition in response to the title of the show. The exhibition is curated and designed by Bard founders Hugo Macdonald and James Stevens.


Poet For Places 2023: Kira Nelson With Sir Laurie Magnus CBE, 13th November, Ham Yard Hotel, 1 Ham Yard, London, W1D 7DT

Poet for Places is a young poet-in-residence programme allowing audiences to explore secret places in London through new and exciting poetry and spoken word. The programme, in collaboration with Heritage of London Trust (HOLT), brings beautiful historic sites, research, poetry and creative perspectives together over the year.

Kira Nelson is an emerging voice in the London poetry scene whose work is about finding creativity to blossom in places all around us. Sir Laurie Magnus CBE is Chairman of HOLT, a charity which restores sites of historic or architectural interest all across London. Poems and live readings will be followed by a Q&A about finding inspiration and reflecting on connections with where we live. The readings will be followed by drinks in the Drawing Room.

Christo & Jeanne-Claude: Boundless introduces visitors to the couple’s seminal projects, ranging from their early collaborations to monumental masterpieces, among them Wrapped Coast in Australia (1968/69), Surrounded Islands (1983) in Miami/Florida, The Pont Neuf Wrapped in Paris (1985), The Umbrellas (1991), installed simultaneously in Japan and the USA, The Gates in Central Park, New York City (2005) and The Floating Piers at Lake Iseo in Italy (2016).

It also includes the perspective of The Mastaba project in Abu Dhabi. This exhibition is the last to ever be signed off by Christo before his death and is divided into ten thematic chapters. The exhibition reveals a story of love and artistic collaboration between Christo and Jeanne-Claude. It celebrates their synergy and profound connection, contextualised alongside their artistic contemporaries, including Jean Dubuffet, Yves Klein, and Lucio Fontana.

Top designer, John Stefanidis, discusses his long career and interiors trends from the late 1960s to today with Gianluca Longo from 'The World of Interiors'. John Stefanidis has been a major force in international interior design since he established his design business in Chelsea in 1967. To mark the publication of his new book, in which he opens his vast personal archive and brings together fifty years of work, he will be in conversation with Gianluca Longo, Style Director of The World of Interiors.
